Default '92 or '93 Van engine into an '87 Dakota

Howdy all,

my '87 dakota is starting to die on me. At the moment it's my main method of transportation. A distant relative left a '92 ro '93 (I can't remember which) Dodge Ram Van with 3.9L engine when they went back home to Australia (we live in ND, USA).

My thought here was to see if I can pick up the van for cheap since it has a bad body, and the floor is rusting through. Swap the engine from that into my '87. I know the engine will bolt in fine, and I'd have the PCM and wiring harness,e tc..

however where are the holes in my theory of this proposed simple swap? Is the Van PCM ok to use in the truck?

Also I'd guess I'd have to do something about the fuel pump etc.. because the van's fuel pump, sender unit would be in tank, where as my '87 uses a fuel pump on the block. Anything else that might not jive?

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm currently trying to dig up info on van's of that model/year to get those wiring diagrams and additional info.
