Default Replacing old bench seat in an 88, any suggestions?

Hey,

So my bench seat in my 88 is looking worn, plus the wife has taken to driving the truck all over and I would like something that has headrests, a bit safer. I looked at new seats but at $900 its way out of my budget. Then I found a nice set out of an 98 Dakota ($150)but then looking at the bracket, I would need to make something up. Really just would like to bolt something in and be done with it.

Any idea's what seats would fit in a 1988 Dakota with minimal effort?

Thanks in advance

Richard

you could use the 60/40 bench from a newer 1st gen, should bolt right up and if not, it will with minimal tweaking

If you go with a 60/40 from a 94 or 95 and really want it to look great, I have a set of leather covers. Brand new and charcoal gray. 50 bucks and they are yours.

Installing Gen II seats in a Gen I vehicle can be done bysomeone who has moderate mechnical skills. The bracket from a GenII will fit in the front with a little massage, but new holes will have to be drilled in the rear for both seats. If you buy seats from a junk yard, make sure you obtain the bracket that bolts to the floorpan as well as seat belts from the II. Use Fender washers on the rear bolts under the cabfor a larger area of adhesion.

Put 98 seats in a '95. Took a few hours; seats are much more comfortable, and have a built-in high back for protection in the event of a rear-end collision.
