ok, so I've been a lazy bastard and haven't replaced this transmission pan gasket yet...

Since the leak is slow enough, I just add some fluid every couple months.

But I've set aside some time this weekend to work on it. I was looking in my Haynes repair manual, and I looked under "Automatic transmission fluid filter change"... since I didn't see any sections talking just about the transmission pan gasket. It says "Note: on 4wd models remove the front driveshaft to allow the transmission pan to clear the exhaust" ... this seems like a big job to remove the drive shaft... I've never done this before.. is it easy to remove the drive shaft and put it back for an amateur?

Also I wanted to inquiry about what rotors/pads you guys buy for the front.

Cheers,
John

LoL once again haynes proves to be more trouble than its worth, Theres never enough info from haynes and then the info they give is worthless or wrong.
Im gonna be doing this to my truck in a week or to and mine requires no removal of the driveshaft.

Yea, you won't need to remove any driveshaft to take the pan off. Haynes is a pretty good resource .
You will need to add about 4-5 (or so) quarts of fresh fluid after you put the pan back on.
