Default PLEASE HELP

Hello. I have a 1989 Dodge Dakota 4x4 6cyl. My truck will run for a while and then just shut down. No spuddering, spitting, ect... This may happen every day for a week and then not happen for months. It does not matter what I'm doing at the time. I can be at idle or going down the road. I have replaced the following parts: ign switch, distributor, plugs & wires, hall effects, cap, rotor, and coil. Thanks for your Help!!!

could be many different things, as you probably already know
because i see you have replaced alot of diff. things

Since your already on the electrical path i would look at the computer!
Or maybe its not electrical at all it may be fuel related
Does it start back right away after it has one of these fits?

Thanks for your post magnum. It never starts right back up. However, it will always start after it sits a while. The time varies anywhere from 10 minutes to hours. Thanks!

Sounds like the auto shut down relay. If this relay is worn out the metal bands can move due to heat but when they cool they can move just far enough so the truck will restart. This may be then next cheapest part you can try for troubleshooting. There is a pic of the locationat the web site I posted below. I didn't check out the website But it looks like it could be very helpful. Good luck

Talking Problem solved

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. The truck finally completely quit running. I checked everything I knew how. After reading & testing I came to the conclusion that it must be the ASD relay, computer, or camshaft position sensor (Hall Effect). I had put a new CS position sensor in last year that I bought from Advance. I decided to put the old one in and if fired right up. Thanks Again!
