Default 93 dakota fusible link

My dad's 93 dakota keeps blowing the 40 amp fusible link (red wire) that powers the ecm and ignition system. Can't find a short or broken wire. Checked ignition switch, relays, etc. Each time the fusible link is replaced, the truck will run for 4 or 5 seconds then the amps will spike over 100 and the fusible link blows. Any suggestions? I'm ready to pull my hair out

thanks!

Check the wires for continuity, just because there are no visibly broken wires doesn't mean they are all good. Make sure also that you don't have wires crossed or anything of the sort to cause the link to be overpowered and pop.
