Default 180* Tstat question

Hi all,
A couple days ago I installed a 180* thermostat in my '94 3.9 4x4. Now when I go for a drive the temp gauge on my truck never even gets above the cold line. It doesn't move from the time I start it up till I turn it off 30 miles down the road. Is this normal? I'm thinking that I may have disconnected or damaged the coolant temp sensor that feeds the gauge when I installed the Tstat. If the gauge is working properly is it hard on my truck to run that cold all the time? BTW, it's winter in michigan so the air temp hasn't been above 30* since I installed the new Tstat, if that makes any difference. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

it sounds like your sensor is unpluged. But with mine at least with 180 it just just above the cold line which is normal.

Thanks crazy,
I looked under the hood today and when I touched the sensor it just snapped off in my hand. I must have damaged it while installing the Tstat.
