haha, well what do ya know I'm not alone!, Instead of cutting the old pan we decided to slide it back another 2 1/4 inches , we had to modify the tranny mount, get the driveshaft cut and make our own motor mounts [:-]. took awhile but was worth it , found out theres only 1 1/2 inches from the water pump pulley to the rad .. check yer clearance on the! unless youleft your front clip on. just a heads up with them old small blocks

You done yet? Geeze, take forever
Talked to my grandpa the other day. He got the front of the motor tore apart (told me I forgot to tighten a bolt on the water pump, oh well), and he said that timing chain was pretty bad. It had taken out both spockets as well. Lucky, his friend had a new timing chain in his garage, so, this little project shouldn't cost much of anything. Much better it breaking in the driveway than in the middle of my drive home.

well, as i said before i am not going to say iam done until i am done. i finished it all up to day and started it and it ran like poo! After a while of poking and prodding everything i got the rapair manual out and figured out what was wrong. i did not get a new flexplate/CPS pickup thing for the v8. I should have thought about it having two more cylinders!!!! So, since i am an idiot and did not feel like pulling the just installed enigine, i dropped the tranny, which suprisingly went pretty well for doing it by myself, took about 2.5 hours to get it on the ground. So time to go back to the steeler and get a new one on monday hopefully, but i am sure they wont have it because the are dumb. i will post a video if i can ever get it to upload!

Unfortunatly, I spoke too soon. My grandpa did have to buy a new timing chain. But, he got it all installed, and the engine runs (he only ran it long enough to move it out of the garage) Now I'm trying to contact this guy via eBay about a transfer case. He lives like an hour from my place in Illinois, so I could go pick it up when I take leave to pick-up the truck.

I just had to slap my hand after looking at the gas gusslers, because I really want to buy a house and get a nice garage setup. And than get a cheap car to drive while I retire the truck to do lots of work to it. My rent contract is up late this summer, so I'd like to get a house by than.
