Default 93' tranny slips when cold

Hi,

I am new to the dodge dakota world. I bought a 93' 6cyl 3.9 auto. Itruns strong, but the transmission slips when cold. It works fine when it gets warmed up; the slippage occurs between 2nd and 3rd, and dissappears pretty much right away, after the first time thru the gears.
Anybody got any ideas? Besides rebuilding the tranny?

Thanks,

Stephen

what kahanabob said, that fixed mine, and try some lucas stop slip. be sure to use ATF+4 in your trans if you change the fluid though.

transmission slip and shift problems ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. is there a problem with the transmission going between gears or when you press the gas pedal does the rpm rise but the speed stay the same. if the problem is the shifting like i suspect, then KAHANABOB is right on the money. but i'll add to that check the adjustment on the governer valve.
