I have a 1998 Durango. Can the automatic 15mph door lock feature be owner deactivated. I don't mind the feature but a bad squealing sound has developed - I think it's coming from the rear hatch door. If it can't be deactivated, any suggestions on why the squeal is happening and can I fix it without going to the shop.

 

To cure the rear latch lock, spray PB Blaster on it and let it set. Mine does it in the cold after a wash.


If your '98 is anything like my '02 you have to flip the key from On to Off 3x times and then hold the door lock to lock for a few seconds.
