Default 93 Dakota ABS Brake light stays on

My symptoms are the following:

abs / brake light stays on

no brake lites

directionals hazards work OK

I was told this is an ABS rear abs sensor.

First of all is there anything else I should check before buying the part?

Also is the picture of the rear end where the sensor is located and plugs right in?

plz advize as I can't drive with no brake lights.

rrr

you got it in the pic. I would look into the brake light switch itself, that would also cause the symptoms you are experiencing

OK, I bought the brake light switch installed it and thats not the problem as the abs light and brake light remains lit. Again , I have directionals , reverse lights, tail lightsand hazards. I was able to return the brake switch so before I order the sensor is there anything else it could be. My brakes are not low and feel fine.

I had a side gear tooth break off in my differential and it destroyed the exiter ring in the rearend. I unpluged the abs module until I could repair the exiter ring.

OK, I found that a fuse (ABS) was blown and replaced it. But a couple of days later it blew again. I did not have a 10amp so I replaced with a 20amp. Am I facing a short somewhere or is there something else to check? SHould I bump this to a new topoc?

Yes, I know this thread is ancient, but posting this to help anyone else with this issue.

There's a pigtail in the passenger side footwell, with the ignition on ground the one pin in the pigtail.
Your ABS light will start flashing, count the number of flashes.

1 not used
2 Open isolation wiring or bad control module
3 Open dump valve wiring or bad control module
4 Closed RWAL valve switch
5 Over 16 dump pulses generated in 2wd vehicles (disabled for 4WD)
6 Erratic speed sensor reading while rolling
7 Electronic control module fuse pellet open, isolation output missing, or valve wiring shorted to ground
8 Dump output missing or valve wiring shorted to ground
9 Speed sensor wiring/resistance (usually high reading)
10 Sensor wiring/resistance (usually low reading
11 Brake switch always on. RWAL light comes on when speed exceeds 40 mph
12 not used
13 Electronic control module phase lock loop failure
14 Electronic control module program check failure
15 Electronic control module RAM failure

Also, you can clear the code by disconnecting the control module instead of the battery.
Both ways work but you don't need to reprogram your radio with the module method.

Cheers
