Can be done by just dropping the pan. Is little trickey job to slip out the old one and slip in the new one. Someone here my give you a play by play discription how to do it.I had mine done by a mechanic. Are you sure it is the rear seal andnot oil leaking from the back of the valve covers and running down the back of the engine? Feel around on the back of the heads and if they are oily then that could be it.

Ya it also could be the oil pressure sensor that is leaking. It happend to me where the sensor just failed and started leaking. Or it could be the oil filter not tight enough or oil pan gasket. Make sure it is rear seal before you tear into it. For full discriptions of how to. Go to any autoparts store get a chiltons or haynes manuls they will give step by step prosses. For around $12

X2 on the oil pressure sender mine was completly broken off, as far as what would be involved in the replacing the seal, since urs is a 4x4 in order to get the oil pan off you got to drop the axle down to give you clearance.

definitely get yourself a manual and when your there, get some "Brakleen". spray down your engine, wipe it off all clean and then drive the truck for a day or 2 and check to give you a better idea of where the leak is. thats what i did when my valve covers where leaking.

hope it helps.
