Default Rear spring Q

Okay, so i borrowed a 20" landscape trailor off my boss, and put it behind my little dakota. that was all good. put a scrap topaz loaded with scrap on the trailor and HOLY!, did it ever make the truck squat, sitting on the scale it was16000LBS.

my question is, what are you guys doing for rear springs? getting a spring shop to beef them up?, putting full size leafs in?

HELP!

Chad

Air shocks will give you 1,000lbs extra loading capasity. Easy to install!! Checkers has them.
Add a leafs will give you some more help.
Also helper springs.
Air bags.
I personaly have a rams 2500 rear springs. Kind like a add a leaf kit, but with several leafs.
I have air shocks, too.
For the other parts check out summitracing.com jegs.com jcw.com ebay.com

Here is a pic. I think this forums gallery is down. I added 3 or 4 leafs. I think it was 99.
I wrote up a post if you want to find a working pic.

hehehe. not sure how well this is going to work but i picked up some one ton rears and helpers, gonna start tearing it apart this week. looking at it real quick im just gonna add a few of the centers in it, but that might change when i get it up in the air.

That sounds good. If you add all, it might be to high. I guess just play by year. measure the higth of your stocks before you take it apart (off of the truck of coarse). Then add a few the messure afterwords. See what the differance is and see if it is enough to to little. But remember it will sag more than that is measured.

i put 2 leaves on each side and it hauls abig slide in camper. it should not squat much after that. makes the ride rougher off road but she will stick to the road like glue on the highway (no body roll, similar to asports car). the only problem is that you will have to change u-joints often unless you shim the rear axle because of the change of angle from the lift in the rear while it's unloaded. if you don't haul a lot then shim it, if you haul a lot then don't bother.
