Just bought a 92 Dakota V8 - has some issues
Yeah hopefully the low oil didn't do much damage. Today I found the diff oil was low too so I topped it off with some valvoline 80-90 I had. The tachometer's working too now, another easy fix - for whatever reason the previous owner had taken fuse #6 out.
Questions:
- Where does your oil pressure gauge sit under normal driving conditions? Even with 20w-50w oil it sits just a hair above the L mark
- How difficult is it to source major parts like engine/trans/rear-end etc on these old Daks? Are they like small block chevys that are available anywhere and everywhere? I'm trying to decide if I should invest some money into this truck for long term keeps, but if the major parts are not available easily then I won't and just drive it into the ground.
- How are the KYB gas shocks for these trucks? Anyone have them?

Not sure where you're at, but in central AR where I am, plenty of parts in junkyards. Can't help with the shocks, but your oil pressure seems to be low. Mine runs on the upper end of the gauge, at what would be 3/4 if it was a fuel gauge (lol). From research here, that seems to be the norm. Might wanna check cylinder pressures, or it could just be a faulty reading. Something to look at. With what I've found in my truck, as with the older dodges I've had, good luck with driving it into the ground. Mine's got over 212k mi. on it, wasn't taken care of at all, and still runs better than the newer trucks I drive at work.
