Default Anyone else have low oil pressure?

My guage sits just a hair above the L mark on the oil pressure gauge when at idle or while driving. After doing some research it seems the Durangos (same engine as ours) are plaughed with this problem and they eventually sieze up

My truck only has 82k miles on it and so I never suspected it to have a low oil pressure issue. I'm used to the kind of cars that have over 200k miles on the original engines.

It could just be the oil pressure sender is bad. Mine blew up and was still reading normal pressure.A way to check ispull the sender out and attach a oil pressuregauge and run the engine at idle a rule of thumb is 10psi for every 1000 rpm and for our engines at curb idle it should be a MIN of 6psi and at 3000 rpm should 30-80psi

Hey Fox, thanks for the encouragement. I really hope that's the issue.

Are you documenting your rebuild? Where about in CA are you? I'm in SoCal.

Probably a sender unit, I get the same thing on my '95 at stops and such, no change in performance or anything just the gauge and dum dum light

on my 89 oil was leaking out of the top of the sensor giving me a low pressure reading. i replaced the sensor and the reading went up. check the sensor for oil leakage at the top, it's located at the back of the engine behind the distributor. if that's the problem make sure if it's a 92 and up you clean the oil off the back of the engine because it will eventually cover the crank position sensor and cause starting/running problems.
