hey all. i just bought a 92 dakota v6 (effing sweet) and i was just wondering if it was a magnum or not. it doesnt have any badges but i heard that 92 was when the magnums came out, and i cant see having 2 different v6's for it, but if somebody could let me know that'd be awesome. thanx

The magnum has a large barrel intake with port injection . One injector per cylinder.They all have serpintine belts. The older ones have a flat intake with a throtle body.

 

As far as I know, the V6 was the Magnum setup just like the V8. Virtually the same engine, just missing two cylinders.

 

Yes the '92 was the first year that dodge came out with the magnum engines in the dakotas. Your engine is much better then the pre mags (they were carburated and only turned out 125 hp).
your engine is the 3.9 L V-6 engine i believe makes 180hp 225 ft lbs of torque. I also believe that it had a larger exahast in 92-93 which gave it an extra 5 hp over the newer 94-99 3.9L magnums
