1995 dakota 5.2 no loss of compression does't smoke at idle or starting.

How do you know is burning oil. Do you see smoke? Are you loosing alot of oil? Do you smell it?Do you see puddles of oil. Does your exhast pipes have oil residue in it? NEED MORE INFO?

won't use a drop under60 went from bull shoals ar to vancover island bc 75 over 3 states nonstop.that is how i found out.

This can sometimes happen after a 1000 or more miles of city driving followed by a highway trip. The engine might have consumed a normal amount of oil, but because of fuel and water dilution from city driving the dipstick registers full. Once you go on a highway trip, the fuel causing the dilution could heat up and evaporate, giving the appearance of rapid oil consumtion.just my thought.

I agree, that's definitely one possibility, at higher speeds the engine works harder, it may bot burn oil at lower speeds, but it can be forced around at higher speeds
