My dakota, currently has the wood grain dash trim, Ive seen brushed aluminum overlays on ebay, but I've also seen some with black trim instead of woodgrain... where could I get one in black or any other color if possible?

If you do it right, you can spraypaint it and have it look good. I have done this on a few plastic things. all that i do it sand down the peice with some fine grit sand paper, spray about 2-3 coats on it, then 2-3 coats of clear to help seal it so it wont chip. I found that the best paint to use was krylon fusion (for plastic). Then just buy some cheap clear coat in a can. Its cheap and you can have whatever color you want really.
check out street beat customs the have just about every style & color you want they are a little spendy though.

If that is too much here are a few cheeper Ideas. The spray paint is a good one. The wood grain is just sticker. Just go to most home or furniture stores and buy some kind of venor (dont know how to spell it)or vinyl, lots of choices. You can just trace out the patterns. Or go to walgress. They can print out Poster size stickers, of any pics.

you don't say what what year or model your dak is. mine is an 89 4x4 sport and i have the alum. trim. from what i've seen all the sports from 87 to 96 came with alum. the convertables and shelby's came with the same burgandy and brushed alum. interiors. if you can locate any of the three at a junk yard (not likely the shelby),it's just a few screws and 10 minuits to replce it. i had an 88 lefor parts which had woodgrain in the dash, my ex wanted me to put it in mine, thats part of the reason she's my ex.
i was thinking about getting rid of the wood grain myself. I also want to dye my entire interior. I cant stand burgandy anymore. If it is just a sticker you can just peel it off then get some phurmika(not sure of the spelling). its what they put on the floors of hearses. Since i work at a hearse and limo dealership thats another option open for me. It comes in wood grain, brushed steel, any color marble, leather look and texture, and then just plain color.
