Idle on 2001 R/T
Ive been having a little trouble keeping my durango running lately. Until it runs for a few minutes if I step on the brake, it cuts off. Its idling real low. My question is how do you adjust the idle and what should it idle at when its cranked and sitting still?
It could be a bad O2 sensor or problem with the brake booster or check valve. But If some one tells you they can ajust the idle " RUN ". Don't laugh I have had people bring me their cars and told me that a shop had ajusted their EFI idle.We lifted the hood to find that the blockoff plugs that hide the screws had been pryed out.
Surprisingly, since one of the screens was unplugged in the front of the truck, it hasnt given me any problems starting. I know one shouldnt have anything to do with the other, and im sure its just my bad luck with vehicles thats causing it. It still idles low though. Sounds like crap when its sitting still running.
Sounds like a dirty throttle body where the idle speed motor is. Ive heard of people blocking off that port and turning up th eidle screw so you dont have to deal with the idle speed motor. In th end, its your truck though.
my 92' had that problem, it sounded like it had a big cam when i had the 3" strait pipe on it.
it may be the connection to the motor itself, or the idle adjuster motor is bad or dirty. (shoulders shrug)
