1989 dakota V6 auto transmission.......Iwas humming along freeway on a very hot day and the drive shaft fell out . from the rearend .i just had surgery so i wasnt ableto really see what happened upon further review , after the towtruck driver pulled the shaft out completely i saw that the u joints were still intact and the big nut and washer were inside u joints area the shaft end was scraped up from road ....I thought it would be a easy fix but after puttin shaft back in there was something missing seemed like it was short. truck would go forward but made a terrible noise
then realized a boot was missing . Ifthe drive shaft falls out like that what are the steps needed to get it backinorder.?? rear end maybe shot? why would nut and washer suddenlybackoff ..im just fishin here ... hopingtofind a view tips to fix.

that happened to my buddies ram going down the road, the pinion nut backed off, so you rearend it probably fooked. it messed his tranny up too, mabey you will be more lucky.
