Can't get the trans pan off
How can something so simple be such a pain? I got all the bolts out I can slide the pan about 1 inch forward but it hangs up on the manifold's Y pipe in just one corner (passenger side towards the front). I tried everything I could but couldn't get it off. I ended up siphoning the old fluid out and bolting it back up with the old seal and old filter still in place.
I even tried using a pry bar but couldn't find a good way to lever against. I'm wondering if my truck has a "custom" exhaust or if there's a trick to getting the pan off. I suppose my next option is to loosen the Y pipe somehow but I predict some broken knuckles and bolts [:@]

YA! I hate the way they routed the pipes. I found the best way is to unbolt the tranny mount bolts and jack up the rear of the tranny. This should give you close to 1in more clearance. I eventlly ended up welding in a 1in spacer of pipe to get more clearance inbetween the two. Just remember to take out the dip stick too.
