Default Rear end swap. 95 in a 89. yoke too big

I've got a 89 Dak 2wd with a 3.9 and have switched the rear end out due to the diff snapping. The new rear end is off of a 95, not sure the engine size (grandparents brought it from tennessee, couldnt find any local). Everything matches up and fits great, except for the driveshaft. Where the U-Joints meet up with the yoke, the U-Joints are about 1/2 inch too short on the inside of the yoke, so there is about a 1/4 inch gap on the outside of them. What I would like to know, is if there is an adapter or something similar I can use to hook this up, or if I have to get a new yoke.

There is no adapter. But if you still got your old rear end just swap the yokes.

Well, the old yoke is pretty tore up from trying to get the old pinion nut off. I have heard from a couple places that I would need an "off-size" U-Joint, with one side for a 2-1/8 inch (to go on the driveshaft) and the other a 2-5/8 inch (to go to the yoke). Now, if only I could find this elusive beast somewhere local, or at least the right size yoke.

Well, For future reference, I found the part I needed.

NEAPCO 2-0527 -- 7260 to 7290 conversion joint.

Fits perfect... now, if only I had realized the 95 had 6 lug wheels.

Anyone wanna swap?

Cool! Im glad you found what you needed. If you realy wanted swap out the axles. They both are the 27 splines. This will give you the other bolt pattern.

Yeah, Im gonna head out and try that, but im not too sure if I would be able to get them out with the differential so messed up. Or if the splines would still be in good shape. Heres a link to a directory of images i took of the diff.

To me it looks like your axle shafts should be in good shape. You should be able to get them out.
