need advice.....!!!!
i just bought a 94 ext cab v8 dodge dakotaive changed the oil breather filter and air filter also put in two bottles of fuel injection on a half of tank of gas just to make sure my gas is clean and changed the the ignition coil i was woundering i remember back when i had a v6 87 dodge dakota and i put some bosch plat 4 in sure it did idle better and had alot more horsepower than it ever had but it killed my gas mileage so i just want to know what are good plugs for this engin and things can i do to get more hp and mpg just sum advice from yall pros out there thanks....mike henderson
First off, if you want anything to clean your fuel lines. Use Seafoam or Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank as it says.
You can also you Seafoam in the brake booster to be sucked in, set and cleaned out.
The real trick to MPG is to just keep your foot out of it. I keep the O/D off under 40mph.
Changing your oils to synthetics helps, but if you have higher miles(over 100k) it will more than likely clean it out and cause leaks.

i thought autolites are piece of **** is bosch plat 2 good for my v8 cuz it seems a lil sluggish not too much its like its wanting to push out alot more hp but somthing not litteing it i looked at the spark plugs and bingo the damn plugs are old *** **** called the guy i bought it from he says he hasnt chaged them in 5 years and also you brought up keeping the OVERDRIVE BUTTOM OFF OVER 40 SO WHEN IM ON THE HIGHWAY IS IT BEST TO LEAVE IT ON WHEN I PAST 40 ON HIGHWAY....???? THANKS GUYS
Ya those are the best for our engines. The platnums make the engine start pinging. The autolights helps keep pinging down while increasing power and at a low cost. When you go to an autoparts store the 3923's dont come up on the list. So ask for them by part number. I have them in mine!
keeping the OVERDRIVE BUTTOM OFF OVER 40 SO WHEN IM ON THE HIGHWAY IS IT BEST TO LEAVE IT ON WHEN I PAST 40 ON HIGHWAY....???? AND WHAT DID YOU MEAN BY CLEANING THEM OUT AND MAKING THEM CAUSE LEAKS....??? AWE YEAH I CHANGED THE OIL MYSELF IT HAS A MOBIL OIL FILTER AND MOBIL FULL SYTHETIC...!!!!!

Keep the OverDrive OFF just UNDER 40mph. Anything higher, turn it back on. It creates a little higher RPM in the lower range so it's not bogging down and sucking a little more gas.
Synthetic oil cleans the sludge out of a motor, sludge blocking a gasket that disappears will result in leaks.
when the light on the o/d button that means its off right cuz when the guy told me he got me all confused im half machanic and half dumbass sorry folks...!!!!!!okay good only reason why i use full sthetic is my pops been using it every since the 70s so i guess his word is always goldin...!!!!!
When the light on the O/D button is on, O/D is off. Dodge really should have labeled the button "O/D OFF" not just "O/D".
And like was clarified, turning O/D off at speeds less than about 40MPH is a very good idea. It will usually shift into O/D at speeds above 25MPH or so, and usually going speeds less than 40MPH, your doing city (stop-and-go) driving, which constantly shifting in and out of O/D is not good for the transmission and can shorten its life span.
