I just installed a 180 deg thermostat in my truck today, and afterward went for a drive to see what the gauge reads and it seemed low to me. Can someone else with a 180 deg thermostat tell me if this is where their temp gauge reads at normal running temp or if there is something wrong with my temperature sending unit.

 

your temp sensing unit could be a little off, mine reads just a little above that on my '95. How long did you drive it before you took this pic?

 

I drove it for 3 or 4 miles after it had idled for about 5 minutes, and it had been idleing for another 5 minutes before i took the picture, but more importantly it was clear that it was done moving.

 

That looks just right to me. That's just about where my 180 sits at.
