Default Fabricating a Parking Brake Cable

So a month or so ago I installed that 9.25 inch rear end on my truck, and finally this past weekend got around to swapping the parking brake cables with my old one. Unfortunatley the new brakes take up more of the cable than the old ones, so I could not get them hooked up to the intermediate cable. I was thinking about making a new intermediate cable that will be about 3 inches longer, but I can't find good quality steel cable at any of the hardware stores near by and the auto parts stores only sell factory sets for specific vehicles. Has anyone ever made a new cable or does anyone know where to get the 1/8 inch steel cable and crimp pieces from?

When I did my 4wd swap I ran into a simalr problem. The 2wd is shorter than the 4wd, from the cab to the rear cable. I bought some 3/16 cable from home depot. I got some cable clamps and hooked it up. I loosened up the stock adjuster so I can tighten it up after it was all hooked up. Here are a few pics. It came out good and no problems.

I did check them out but the cable didn't seem to be of the same quality as the factory cable. I did find out after some research that the cable they use from the factory is 1/8 inch, 1x19 strand, 304 stainless steel wire rope. I ordered a little bit longer than I need and I ordered some round crimp stops and I'm gonna make one identical to the factory one except it'll be about 3 inches longer. I'll post up some pics when I'm done.

Advance auto sells an intermediate kit for the extended cabs that is basically just a long length of cable. It should do the trick.

all i know is, i need to get some kind of parking brake for my 88, the other day i was letting it warm up and i turned around and it had rolled into the street. i havent even looked at the situation to see whats wrong but the pedal for the brake just lays on the floor, i dont think its hooked to anything. I usually put brick behind the right rear but that routine is getting old.

Haha... that's funny. I know, I know, not a nice thing to say!
When I let my truck warm up, I have the trans in neutral (Chrysler transmisisons don't pump fluid in park). I, too, need to hook up my parking brake, just waiting to get the truck in the garage. So I used blocks of wood in front and behind the driver rear tire.
