Default Larger tires, adjust spedometer and odometer?

I put larger tires on my truck a while back. I now have 31" tires on the truck, had R225 (? If that sounds right?), which were from the previous owner. I am wondering, what tires typically come stock on a 95 Dakota 4X4? Also, what, if anything, should I do to correct the chage in spedometer and odometer readings? When I calculated the difference in circumference from the tires on the truck when I bought it and the ones I put on it was around 10% larger.

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it. My Dakota came stock with 195s and I had up to 275s at one time. I never seem to be slow/speeding nor got pulled over.

I'm not sure on stock tires, I know on 2wd they vary alot.

My '95 4x4 club cab came with 215's and has the optional size of 235's. I had 30x9.5x15's on at one point and never did anything with the speedometer or odometer. I'd only worry about it if you were passing people on the highway like they were standing still and you were only going 55...LOL

drive the speedlimit knowing your speeding but not enough to get pulled over. what you need to get is a gps unit that will tell you how fast your going, i went from the stock tires to 30.5 and the speed changed from 65 to about 71 on the highway, your probably going 72

True that! My speedo is about 2-3MPH higher than my actual speed at any/every speed. The tires I have are the same as the label on the door jamb (and the same as the OEM spare).

If you wanted to fix the speedometer, you'd have to buy a new pinion, which goes into the rear of the transfer case (4WD) or transmission (2WD). OEM = $80. Or, you can put that $80 towards a GPS and get driving directions.

Most large citys will have a spedometer repair shop. When I put in 3.9 rear end gears with 31s (at that time), I had to go to a shop to get them to test the speed and to get me the correct speedo gear.

My wife bought me a nice $300 Gps online for Christmas. Now I just have to wait for it to come in. Then I could see how far off it is now with 33s.

I would be interested to see how the GPS compares to the spedometer.
