Default Wiring Harness Problems

I have a 96 Dakota with a 3.9. It has run well until I started it about a month ago and now it is throwing 13,21 codes at me. I changed the O2 sensors and then found chafed wires in the o2 wiring harness. I would like to totally replace the harness since this is where I think the problem is. So the questions is can the connectors short out also or can I reuse them ?
Also is wiring even able to be purchased or is it a salvage item ? I think I could use a trailer wiring harness and get the connectors from NAPA or O'Reilly's. Any help would be appreciatted since my state - NC requires the vehicle pass the emissions test with no MIL indicator light showing. THANKS.

You can technically use any wire, like a trailer harness, to get the same results, otherwise I think it's going to be best found in a salvage yard. I highly doubt you need to change out the entire harness. Trace the bad wire back to it's end and either bypass it or change it, but a whole wiring harness is going to be a big project for one, and two you'll be opening the doors for new problems down the road, especially because you'll have new splices in there which is all the more to corrode or cut off continuity
