running light/dash light problem
Hello I'm a newbie with a problem that I haven't seen an answer to. Hope you might be able to help. Have a 95 4x4 3.9 ext cab, that I just bought, that doesn't have parking/dash lights. I accidently found out if you pull the light switch partially out they would come on (between park and headlight position) but they would go out when you pulled the headlights all the way out. I replaced the headlight switch, with a new one,but the problem is the same and the new switch acts just like the old. Does anybody know whats going on? thanks
I sprayed the connecttions but it didn't help. A friend came over and suggested jumping a wire between the headlight wires and the running light wires, at the switch, We tried it and it worked.
As you know chasing down a wireing problem can be difficult if not impossible to find and very time consuming. Do you think I should leave the wires jumped and it will be O.K.? thanks

Well, the power for the parking lamps goes from the battery, through the same 50AMP fuse as the headlights, and than through a 20AMP fuse (in the fuse block in the cab), and than to the headlight switch.
The "input voltage" wire at the switch is pink with a red tracer. You might want to check and make sure that has power. If it is, all I can think is that your new switch is defective.
