Is the water pump for a 1996 Dakota with a V6 as press on pump, or bolt on? Car Quest is giving me 2 options and i need to know which one it is.

The water pump is a bolt on. Are you sure your not talking about a water pump pully? There is a big difference. You can go to autozone.com and look on there site and see the options.

 

yah its where the pulley goes onto the water pump,. Ill look right now

 

it says theres press on and bolt on, it doesnt say which one it actually is

 

is there a difference in the 2? i am sending my fil to get the pump, need to make sure he gets the right one

 

Factory original pumps were all bolt on. If you still have the factory pump you can get the bolt on OR the press on. The press on comes with the pulley on it anyways so regardless of what your original one is it will work.
