Unhappy 4 wheel drive in 92 dakota won't engage

I have a 92 dakota 4 wheel drive 3.9 magnum. I recently had to use four wheel drive because of a substantial snow. When i pull the lever, the light comes on to show it is engaged, however, i noticed only my rear wheels were spinning. I checked to see that the front drive shaft spun while engaged and didn't spin when disengaged and both checked out. This happens in 4low also. Is it my front diff? My hubs? Could one hub not engaging keep the other from engaging? PLEASE HELP! Thank you
