As for the speedo the best thing to try is get ahold of a gps unit. Even the cheepies have a speedo on it. This will give you a correct speed. I believe walmart sells the bicycle ones that are $20.

Is it awkward knowing that 6 extra inches is a body lift and not suspension?
the exhaust comes out on both sides. the pipes are never joined. one bank of 4 cylinders feeds one cherry bomb, and the other feeds the other side. no x pipe, no h pipe, no y pipe. the cherry bombs are basically a straight shot thru(you can look right thru them), i love it, reminds me of the drag strip. it cost me about $200 to make. you need a mig welder, a grinder with cut off wheels, some exhaust tubing and the mufflers. there was lots of room from the lift(it would be a very tight fit with no lift.)
awkward because the lift is a body lift? haha no, i could care less. i put it together with mostly stuff that was kicking around the shop. you couldnt buy a 3 in body lift for what i put into my 6 in. im thinking about doing a solid axle swap in the future (maybe in a yr) and ill probly go with a suspension lift then. another 6 in from suspension would be easy.
thx for the complements

Make sure the gps is one that connects to a satellite quickly. My running watch takes forever, and it was a lot more than $20 lol.

ive been thinking about getting a good gps anyway so i can practise with the bike for LSR. i want to try the new track being setup in Loring, Maine this summer in addition to drag racing.

i had to put on an idler arm to pass inspection, and then get an appraisal to get tags. its good to have friends in the buisness when attempting a project like this lol. my exhaust is really pushing it. i got my new axle in so its a 4x4 again. needed it in the snow once, but it was fine driving on a muddy road in 2 wheel drive. it needs an allignment, but handles well for those huge tires without being ballanced. it is very over geared. it roars going up hills, but will accelerate going up hill(foot to the floor). the tires rub on the frame a bit going around sharp turns, but nothing major.
pic from today:
uncles 3/4 ton chev with 6 in suspension lift, and 35x13.5 in tires on 20 in rims in the background

What a beast! I like it!

They must really go through your vehicles with a fine tooth comb during inspection up there if they called you out on an idler arm. My truck is too old for emissions in my state, but it still needs a safety inspection, and they only took like 2 or 3 min. looking at stuff like lights and tires. (But like you mentioned, I knew the people inspecting it)

i love it! driving thru a drive thru is much different. instead of reaching way up (civic) i have to reach way down lol.
the idler arm had a lot of play in it. im glad he checked it really as i didnt. no emissions stuff to go thru here so far. he has seen a lot of the "hockey puck lifts", and regular plastic off the shelf lifts like you see on ebay and thought my all steel lift with braces was pretty safe.(most of the stuff i added was thicker than the frame)

im undecided on gearing. it still has enough power to spin one wheel on dry pavement, but you can tell its over geared going up hills. i wont be towing anything big, an open trailer with 2 bikes max. 4.10 gears may be enough?

I think 4:10s will have to work since you can't go lower :P But I seriously do think they'll make a big difference, you just won't bring it back near the factory ratio.

You know, I almost forgot about it, but back in january when I was looking at getting new tires I made an excel spreadsheet to calculate outer diameters and speedometer changes for different tire sizes. All you have to do is put in the factory tire size and new tire size and it will calculate everything for you. If you want it PM me your email address and I'll email it to you (it's an office 2007 file).

I put in your new tire size, and it's telling me your new tires are 30% larger than stock, so without giving you the whole list, I can tell you that your going 30% faster than what your speedometer says.
