Default Weird clunk sound... I feel something is loose

Recently I had the Brake Master Cylinder and Proportioning Valve replaced by a shop. Couple weeks after, I started to hear a sound (actually I felt it more from the steering wheel than hearing it) through the steering wheel when I apply a moderate to hard brake or even a hard acceleration. It’s hard to describe it words, but I will try: it feels like the windshield mounted rear view mirror got a loose screw/base as you adjusting it.

I brought it back to the shop but the technician can’t hear or feel it. But I firmly felt something is loose under the hood. I don’t know if it is related to the brake work they've done or some other causes like the suspension, steering wheel shaft, or engine mount. I don't have the knowledge to identify. Do you guys have any suggestions before I bring it back to the shop? Thanks. My 92 truck is 4x4 with the 5.2L engine.

I had this issue on my '95. I'm not sure what fixed it because I had so much done to it (not for this purpose). I had the rotors and calipers replaced, calipers were locking up, both front shocks, and something else, can't remember, something electrical, I'd have to look it up. I know it wasn't anything electrical causing the trouble, only thing I can figure is it was either a warped rotor, but on second thought that would reciprocate as the wheel turned, or the shocks, but not even that makes sense. It had to be one of these, because the feeling isn't there anymore, I had ball joints (for new tires and alignement) replaced a week prior and the feel was still there, so I ruled that out. It's still a mystery to me, but whatever it was is gone and I'm glad

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the post title was what happened to my truck this past weekend. I was driving down the road and one of the upper ball joints broke through the threads and there steering wheel got very loose. It was also accompanied by a clunking sound everytime I turned or hit a bump. I don't know if this is close to what your describing, but its something worth checking, especially if you've had the ball joints replaced in the past. Just look to see if all the ball joints are seated correctly.

I get a clunk coming from worn caliper bushings - jack the front wheel up and turn it forwards and backwards by hand, that's where I found the noise on mine.
