Well you need to give people more details! Is it pre a magnum engine? What kind of budget are you on $500 or $5,000? What are you looking for a extremely high performance? Or mild? You know with most you will lose out on your bottom end performance. Making towing or hauling heavy loads harder.

It does say at the top right corner that it's an 88, so its gonna be premagnum. Thats good for you cause the magnum cams are very expensive.

To add to this, if you get a cam with too high a power band you'll need a torque converter with a higher than stock stall rating.

Not much over stock, unless you want to upgrade the torque converter and gearing.

It may be an 88 but no v8s were options for that year. So it is not stock, so there is no way to know where it came from. It may be from 92-up truck. or 91-down We don't know that is why I asked.

Sorry, I didn't know that... I'm not too familiar with the pre-'91 dakotas. Thanks, I learned something new!
