Valve Spring Selection
So I'm slowly continuing the 5.9 build for my truck. I've decided to get this cam: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...9&autoview=sku and 1.7 roller rockers. Now I need to figure out what kind of valve springs to get. This is the first engine I've ever tried building so any advice on how to select the right springs would be appreciated.
After doing a few searches these were the best I found for a higher lift on the cam. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Thanks! I downloaded the comp cams reference guide to see what they said about matching parts for that cam and it gave no info about springs, so I had no clue what to look for in new springs.
The reference guide also gave a suggested part number for push rods to use, and when I looked them up on summit they are 6.8 inch long push rods, and I found out our engines have 6.9 inch push rods. Do I want to go with the shorter ones cause thats what comp cams says to do or should I go with the factory length cause that makes more sense to me (cause unless I'm wrong, I wouldn't think changing the cam would change the length between the cam and the rockers).

Ya it sounds like the best thing would to use the stock ones. But maybe you could call their tech dept. Because .1 is a big difference. And you don't want to bend the rods or worse mess up the valves.
