I don't really know what you mean by cold air intake. We don't have the same setup as the 2nd gens. Our filter is on top of the throttle body and the factory intake is technically a cold air setup. It draws air through the tube from behind the grill.... you can't get much colder air than that. If you want more airflow, get a higher flow filter.

i made a piece to connect the second gen cold air intake to the first gen TB. its not pretty, but i may make a nice one out of aluminum later when i get a tig. im going to make a heat shield like you see on some cold air intakes to prevent it from sucking hot air from around the motor. im also modifying the area where the factory piece connects behind the grill to allow a lot more air flow. im leaving the weather plate in, but ill be opening up a few other places to get more air. i might open up the other side too just to get more cool air around the motor.

The Throttle body's should have been the same from 92-02. Did you try the 2nd gen throttle body piece. Did it work? What didn't fit?

i would have thought it would fit too, i have the tb off a 99 and it is the same. that thing looks pretty nifty though, would be a good piece for a supercharger or turbo.

Ya now that I think of it my TB is off of the 2000 dakota rt that I got my 5.9 from. It fits my stock and the aftermarket open air filter element.
