Default Issues....92 dak likes to cut itself off

Anybody had trouble with your dak cutting off? There was a real bad cold snap down here a few weeks back...got to minus 20...and it started cutting off in reverse unless I let it warm up a bit, and now it's doing that plus when I come to a complete stop it makes a grinding sound...not the engine, but it feels like something else, and it cuts off. Any answers for this one??? I've heard that this is a universal issue with the 91-93 daks? Is that true?

Mine used to cut itself off and do everything like yours is doing except for the noise. It went away when I changed my EGR valve, I doubt that's what's going on with your truck. Have you checked your trans fluid level? My '95 used to make a little noise in reverse when my trans was low on fluid, this was 5 years ago when I bought it, otherwise it sounds like an issue internally on the trans.
