Default coolant temp sensor HELP

First off alot of the post on here have helped me out with my truck. It's the first dakota i have owned. I am in the process of replacing the intake manifold on my truck. It's a 96 dakota 4wd 5.2L. I got a intake manifold from a guy who said it came off of a 5.2L engine, but upon inspection my old manifold has two sensors one on each side of the thermostat where the good one only has the one on the left side. It's white and only has one plug, i think it's the sensor for the gauge if i remember from what i have read on here. But my question is will this effect how the truck runs? If so is there any way to fix this with out buying another intake manifold. Please any info on this would be great. I need to get the truck running cause my civic broke down the other day and i'm not sure whats wrong with it so we are without a car right now.

I Belive it is 97-up intake manifolds, they use just one coolent sensor. You can just drill and tap a new hole for the other sensor. That is what I had to do when I did my 5.9 swap.

You may be able to. But One sensor may have different resistant values then the other. A simple drill and tap would do it. Go to autozone and buy the drill and tap for $15 or less.

My father in law should have everything i need. I was just wondering cause i already have everything together and done. I was in a hurry and didn't pay attention to the fact it even had the sensors until i was done.

Thanks

Thanks everyone. I will tap and drill it. Got to replace the oil pump today. Hopefully that will fix my problems. It will start but then it will start running hot cause it has no oil pressure so i will turn it off. Then it won't start until the engine cools done alittle. Then the main brake line for the front brakes was busted. So hopefully after today it will be up and running good.
