Default '95 Dakota Transmission Skip

I have a '95 Dak with 97k miles on it. At around 30mph it sounds like the tranny skips. The engine revs high and then kicks low again. Is this in fact the transmission? I read in the owner's manual the truck is equipped with a fuel saver. Could this just be the fuel saver kicking in? Thanks.

No, it sounds like you are losing pump pressure in the tranny. Start by changing the filter and fluid. While you are in there adjust the bands also. The fuel saver is the lock up for the converter I believe, and the motor should not rev, just drop to a lower rpm. If this is the case and you keep driving it, you'll most likely fry the clutches. If that happens, get ready to drop big bucks, can be upwards of a grand to have rebuilt!!
