Default Instrument Cluster-gear selector

I have a 92 Dakota which has been taken apart by the previous owner and now drive reads in low 1. Is there an adjustment or something to do to the cable that hooks under the column. Thanks.

Yea. There is an adjustment you can make, but I'm at work right now, and haven't messed with it in about 3 years. It's pretty easy though, and straight-forward when your looking at it.

Just take the cover off(where the hazard switch is) and the adjuster(on mine) is an orange cable. Since mine snapped, I just have it wrapped around something on the column.

you can also get to it by removing the knee blocker plate below the steering wheel, if you cant get it i will be able to take some pics tomorrow or the next day.

Default thanks for the replies

I appreciate the replies. I though I could just tie the cable. Someone did that and it still was not right. I was trying to get it right you know..lol..does not always work that way I know. The metal band is rivoted to the column which I could change. I will take another look at it. I just do not want to mess it up

Tying it up works, but think how often you shift it. It'll only last for so long. I just ended up counting the pops when I go through the shifter to see where I'm at. Was tired of messing with it.

There's a little copper(I think) clip that's supposed to be on the indicator wire, it locks into the steering column. You could easily just take some light metal and bend it around if need be.

Thanks Bad....You are right there is a clip. I thought at least they would make a replacement clip.
