shifting issues
I have a '93 dakota LE 3.9L auto that when being driven, it refuses to shift into overdrive and stalls if i stop too fast. ive cancelled out every possible cause except the torque converter clutch solenoid and the computer. now somebody in the garage area of this forum had given me a diagram of where the solenoid is located but i still cant seem to find it. i had my mechanic give me wire colors for it but i still cant find it. if somebody could shed some light on my problem that would be great. the main thing i need to know is if the solenoid is in the tranny or if its accessible from the outside (which i assume it should be). any help will be greatly appreciated. the trucks been parked all winter because of this problem. i just want my truck back! thanks
The solenoid is inside the tranny. Just unbolt the tranny oil pan and it is assessable right there. Lots of possibility's. For me I had a wire brake on me that caused my truck to act like that. For wiring diagrams check out the FAQ's in this section. And service manuals too.
update: i did no work to the truck, i went through the carwash at my work, and ever since then ive had no problems, which is good because we got hit with a winter storm last night. kinda sux only having a 2wd and bald back tires.... but the tranny is shifting fine now, it doesnt stall, running like new again. once the weather warms up again, im gunna fix it for good tho, so i dont have the problem again.
