Idle problem with a 96.
I want to start by saying I am far from the most mechanically inclined person and have a fair understanding of my limited knowledge and no how, but still wanted to get some feedback from others regarding my 1996 Dakota, 3.9 - V6, automatic, with right around 116,000 on it. I bought the truck third hand last summer with around 114,000 on it.
For most of the time that I have owned it I have noticed that it will easy start, idle and continue to run well from a cold start, but once the engine is warm and I start it after shutting it off, it will start and initially run, but does not want to idle, and will kill? I regularly have to start it and hold down the peddle a little bit to maintain an idle for I would guesstimate about 30 seconds or so and then it will run fine on its own. Any ideas or feedback will be greatly appreciated!
I also want to add that I have added seafoam it does not seem to have helped.
Thanks, Joe
