Default weak point

well fox you were right, kind of. i beefed up my back suspension with 2 extra leafs on each side, more expensive but far better for off road, racing and hauling my slide in camper than air bags and the 3.9 has no problem hauling the weight (3.90 gears) i bought brand new tires to go with it and 4000 miles later there toast.
every tire has about 20 to 30 splits where the off-road **** joins the tire. i've seen splits on tires before on the outer tread (usually retreads) but this is REALLY bad. a piece of gravel went into one split and flattened the tire out in the middle of nowhere! and there was no weight in the truck.
i beefed up the back suspension, u-joints and changed the seals on the rear axle and tranny output to be sure i could haul the weight and did not think about tires (duh).
the tires where "p235/75/15" (why do i have this funny feeling that crazy, fox and bad are laughing right now, something to do with the "p" and not "Lt")
i hope someone learns from my mistake and will save themselves 600 bucks. they won't take the tires back (i did try).
by the way i'm now looking for "Lt 31/10.50/15". they have to be at least 4 ply, but 6 ply would be better.

i do have one qustion, will the Lt 31/10.50/15 work ok with a 2 inch lift? i'm pretty sure the rims are 7 inches wide, is that a problem with tires that wide? and will i rub anywhere? (i'm thinking the front of the frame)

thanks everyone.

LOL yea that sucks! Oh well next time I guess we all should double look to make sure it is LT.

Ya 31s should fit with no problem. Maybe a little at full steer on the frame. Or that back corner of the fender well on articulation angles.

i'm thinkin the same thing crazy, but it should be ok. i don't get the bounce that the guys get with blocks in the back get. (beefed up leaf springs) oh yah i hate to admit it but i knew they where "p" when i bought them, just didn't have a camper at the time, so lesson learned.
