Default 91 dakota 5.2 air pump removal

do I have to keep the air pump on my dakota or can I take it off.I have no cat on it now but I'm gonna run duals but cutting the y-pipe just before it combines into 1 and run 2 1/2" pipes all the way back.I'm going to get 2 new hight flow cats but didnt know if I should get the ones with the air tube or not.I want the engine as bare as posable,I'm also going to get the a/c delete pulley and pull all that out.

I don't think it's needed, might make the check engine or maint req'd light come on though

all the air pump does is feed clean air to the cat to increase the reaction. it is not needed especially if you took your cat out. in sux a case, just remove the belt that runs the air pump and that will cancel it out. if you wanna lose some un needed weight after that then you can remove the pump
