Default no radio or turn signals

sometimes my radio doesn't deliver sound to the speakers. i can hear the click through the speakers when i turn the radio power on, but no other sound gets there. tape deck still works, just no sound.

when this happens i also have no turn signals. no clicks, no green arrow on dash. its really random, and works about every other time i start the truck up.

any ideas?

fuses would be my first guess. next would be maybe the speaker wires behind the deck frayed and touched and its shorting out? its really hard for me to diagnose electrical cuz i hate dealing with it and i usually leave that to the shops

i'm with you, man. any time i have to lay on the floor of a car to work under the dash i am not a pleasant person.

it's nice outside, so i'm going to go fuss with it.

if the radio is stock that may be the issue.

well that is interesting. when i bought this heap there was no radio. i got a junker out of an 87, but the LCD read out is jacked all the time. it works like a champ, you just can't read or trust anything on the display.

i happened upon one of those cassettes with a wire to an 1/8" jack, and i have been using my ipod shuffle through it for about a month now.

i hadn't considered this radio dying, but it makes sense. does anyone know what the genius is behind the wide braided ground wire from the radio case to the engine bay?

good chances are the radio died, BUT another thing to look into is check the main battery lead. cuz i was thinking about it, and my radio didnt work in the truck when i first bought it, i replaced it with an aftermarket one, but sure enough, it still didnt work. long story short, it ended up with me running a new battery lead and now everything works fine. i would just buy an aftermarket one if i were you and get rid of that stock piece of crap
