My best guess is it's coming from the axle, but that's without seeing it first hand

If the "grease" looks like gear oil, you have a bad axle seal and its leaking out from the differential/axle housing. If it is actual grease (as in the solid, not the liquid) then it could be the wheel cylinder, but they don't hold all that much grease.

I would also check your wheels cylinders (if you have drum brakes) those are pretty goog for leaking over time.

I doubt it's the wheel cylinder unless your loosing brake fluid, cause if they start to fail they will leak brake fluid as well as any grease that may be in them.

agreed, but at the same time how do we know its not leaking brake fluid? dakota26, is it leaking brake fluid too? if so, then its the wheel cylinder. if not, then its the axle seals

Lol, there was an indirect question in there. In a way I was asking if it was leaking brake fluid while suggesting that if its not then its not the wheel cylinder
