lol ive set off a few alarms, but i was sitting right beside the car. i only have the 1 12" right now, but in order for it to sound decent at all, i had to face the sub into the backing of the back seat. i dno much about sound dynamics, but i just dont get it. im not complaining either tho. as long as it sounds good. i had 2 10" kickers in there at one time, and they were so loud that my wiper blades were jumping a good 2" off my window. it was insane! i couldnt even see while i was driving

Just a suggestion- My other car is a LT1 Roadmaster wagon and the b-body GM gas tank fits nicely between the frame rails and makes true dual exhaust alot easier. I relocated my fuel fill to just above the molding behind the left wheel well, it truly was one of the most subtle and cool body mods i have ever done.

2 JL W0's do quite nicely in my current Dak in a custom box i made that replaces the jack and storage compartments under the rear seat. it's 1" taller but all i had to do was drill new holes in the factory seat hinges. The best part is its stealth mode when parked at the train station in Boston then you just flip up the seats and turn up the bass

Because I'm in college and still live at my parents house, so my truck (car back then) is all I have that is mine to put a nice stereo in. I mean I do have a nicer than average home theater, but nothing to fancy cause when I finish college and move out it has to come with me. I've just about grown out of the I want a big bad a$$ car stereo that everyone can hear from a mile away phase though. Now I just have a good sounding stereo that handles the entire frequency range loud enough to overpower road/wind noise (I can drive 80 with the windows down and still hear my stereo clear), but its not so loud as to shake the vehicle apart or allow people a mile away to know what your listening to!

P.S. I did have the dome light inside my old car fall out of the headliner from the vibration one time... which is what I meant by shake the vehicle apart :P

thats entirely true. i may not live with my parents still, but i have room mates that could break a nice sounding home theatre. plus i live in a side by side, so the neighbours probably wouldnt appreciate it. although i guess they dont like my system in my truck either, but they only hear that for a few seconds as opposed to all the time. also i dont listen to much music at home.

now on a new note...

i am currently looking at an '03 dakota with a 3.9L in it. i will eventually be taking the 3.9 out, but since im buying this truck, itll take a lot longer. the engine is in tip top shape. no engine codes. its saftied. not sure about milage but i will update on this. its another 2WD and ive now concluded that im destined to have a 2WD cuz thats all i can seem to find =/. BUT... the thing is, i offered him 8 grand cuz i know the trucks are going for 6 grand (give or take) right now , but when i told him that, he said no, just because that wouldnt even pay off what he owes on it still. now the predicament im in now, is, its my GFs sisters friend, and hes willing to do payments on the truck under a contract. hes already looking for a new vehicle so that he can sell me the truck cuz he wasnt even going to sell it in the first place. should i just pay the 8 grand? personally i think i should, but this is why im posting this here, i want your guys' opinions. its white in color, ext cab short box. not sure on KMs, but i know they are low. rides nice. drives beautifily. smokes the tires way better than my current '93 3.9L. it has a LSD. new tires. new brakes. new exhaust (even tho im gunna be changing it to dual anyway...) no scratches. no rust. not a single dent or previous accident. if i buy it i will be the 3rd owner. its an extremely clean cut truck. what do you guys think???

I think it sounds like your abandoning us for the 2nd gen guys :P JK

It looks like my local craigslist has the cheapest one for $5000 (reg cab, short box, manual, bottom of the line) and the most expensive for $11000 (4 door, SLT, V8, auto... top of the line). It looks to me like you won't be screwing yourself at $8000, there are a couple of them for $8000 that look close to what your describing.

Good man! :P

You should ask the 2nd gen guys what they think about the price, but like I said, it sounds fair to me.

*EDIT* Or another thing you can do is call your insurance company and ask them what they would value the car at, cause you don't want to pay more than what theyd give you if it got totalled on the way home! There are lots of ways to get screwed on the price of a used car, and thats an often overlooked one. When I was working at the body shop, we got an '08 chevy suburban come in the fall of '07 with less than 2000 miles and 30 day tags on it. The sticker was in the glove box... $51,000 and some change! The lady totalled it and owed more on it than the insurance company would give since a car looses so much value the instant you drive it off the lot. I know this truck your looking at is used and not new, but my point is don't pay more than the insurance company will value it for and you likely won't go wrong.
