ok, so instead of trying to figure this test out and do it, and actually get the PCV to come out, im just ordering the plenum plate, intake gasket, and TTY intake bolts. i want to get the new o2 sensor, but i dont have enough money for it this cheque... just with shipping and everything, this is all costing me $178.02 CDN and i can barely afford that. but i just figure its probably less time consuming and less expensive to just do it proper the first time. i dont wanna do this twice, nor even deal with it again. should be a fun weekend now tho

will do, from the looks of it, it looks decently easy, but you never know, and a write up is always a good thing to have. however, i am paying via paypal, BUT, i didnt put the payment through, and i think hughes might still be sending it, cuz i got a confirmation (receipt) email. if so, ill likely just have to pay the driver right? cant say ive ever ordered parts online before... i am a little confused..

so i was sitting here thinking about it, and im not gunna even buy that plenum plate for my 3.9L. im dropping in a 360 eventually, so why not just buy the plenum for that later on. ill still do a write up on installation and everything, it will just be at a later time now since i dont have the money for the 360 quite yet. real soon, the trucks gunna have a 360 under the hood, and lockers in the rear diff, with a mopar performance computer and the plenum plate fix and 180* thermostat. should make for some fun. gunna try and find a '93 engine and trans tho, just to keep it in the same year range. btw, crazy, what year 360 did you put into yours?

But if the leak is small its very hard to fell anything.
that's right, i forgot about the PCV having to be taken off. but dodge changed the materials used in the gasket in 2002 for the dakota. of all the dakotas that have had their gasket replaced at his dealership 2002+ have not been back in since, and he still has a few come in with the old gaskets. so it's not that there aren't any of them taking them to dealers, because they're actually still VERY common trucks around here.

was it still all "plug and play" style? if there was changes, what kind of changes did you do. i really wanna put a 360 into mine, i just wanna do it the way that involves the least amount of work

For me it was. If you already have a V8 5.2 all you do is put in the engine and you use all your stock sensors and all. if you wanted, you could use the 5.9 injectors that came with it.

If you have a V 6 you are going to need to swap over the entire wire harness/ computer/ all sensors and injectors. FAQ2 in this section has a good post of how to convert a V6 to a V8!

yeah, mines a v6, but im also thinking of doing a complete build from scratch. i was gunna get a 4x4 frame, de-rust it, re-powder coat it, put a 4" lift on it, drop the 360 and manual tranny on, install all new brakes, put a locker in the rear, and then slowly transfer my body over, replacing any body parts i need to along the way. and then install all new wiring in the truck. its gunna be a long and expensive route for me to take with the truck, but i think it would turn out better than just doing a swap and slowly doing everything...
