Cruise control
so i was driving down the highway today heading out to steinbach (30-45 min from winnipeg) and i didnt use my cruise the whole way out there. but when i was coming home, the wind was a little more intense and harder for me to keep a steady speed, so i set the cruise. i was driving along and all of a sudden, the cruise turned off. i didnt touch the brake or anything. so i wrote it off as a whatever kind of thing and re-set the cruise. 5-10 min later, it does it again. so i just turned it off. my girlfriend thinks its because i was yelling at the truck just minutes before. it was actually a quite funny coincidence. but anyway, what would cause this? a bad connection to the cruise or what...?
It could be a vacuum problem. I had a similar problem - vacuum related for me at least. I knew it was vacuum related because at about the same time, my heater/AC would stop blowing out the front vents and start blowing out the defrost vents (which is where they blow when vacuum is lost).
This only occurred to me during one 700-mile trip. I never fixed anything, and it never happened since.

dakotas are very sensitive jtlyk, you really have to speak softly and follow it with some rubbing on that dash board if it starts messing up, lol. i would check for vacuum leaks and did it cut off when you hit a bump? i have seen a few cars have it cut off when they hit small bumps because the brake pedal would move just a little and trigger the brake switch. worth a look too if it does not get fixed with the vacuum.
Only tool I broke was an already broken MAPP gas torch top flame thing.
lol, so that explains why it was arguing with me. but im pretty sure i did hit a small bump when it was turning off, however ive gone down bumpier roads with the cruise set and nothing goes wrong. its never done this before, but im sure that its a vacuum leak. i didnt notice anything with the heater controls cuz i havent been using the heat (like it had any anyway...) and the a/c needs to be recharged so i dont use that either. ill take a look at all the vacuum hoses to the cruise on the weekend. but as of now, i have no time. gunna be workin my *** off for the next little while so i can save money up to get this truck lookin and runnin brand new before the next winter
