The torque readings don't bother me. I probably never have tightened to 25 ft-lbs.
I'm more concerned about pieces of the Teflon breaking off. While it will be caught by the oil filter, my theory is to provide the least possible chances for anything to be introduced into the oil system.
While using PTFE on AN-style thread isn't horrible, it is incorrect.
