Default camping

does anyone use a slide in style camper in their dakotas? if so what special mods have you made to accomodate it? its estimated at 1000 pounds

I know someone on here said they had to use air shocks because theres sagged.

i figured id get air shocks, any brands anybody really likes? what else would you do to prep it besides shocks and a trans cooler?

I got my air shocks from shockshopusa.com and I like them a lot. I would suggest stripping the paint off and repainting them before you put them on though, one winter in Chicago and they got rust on them pretty bad.

In my owners manual for my 87 Dakota, It said that The use of Slide in Campers is not recommended with them but I dont know about later models

Checkers/ advance autopart should have the air shocks in stock. They did at my local one. Yes defiantly a external transmission cooler. Autozone or pepboys has it in stock. That will help. And if you haven't already do a tune up and change out all fluids including brakes. It is best to be safe then sorry. And check brake pads and shoes and tires and the pressures.
