3,4, or 5 point harnesses
Funny how the blown head gasket in the V6 has made me basically undetake the rebuilding of my entire truck.
I got the second gen seats, like the way 95_319SLT did the buckets. I am wanting to see if it is possible, if done right, to install a 3,4, or 5 point harness on the driver's side seat. I have to measure, but I am pretty confident that the existing floor mounts will work for the lap belt. The shoulder strap and sub belt (if used) will be the harder ones. The sub belt may be a non issue if I go with a 3 point or 4 point harness, but I need to find somewhere adequate to mount the shoulder harness. With bucket seats I am leaning towards a 3 or 4 point, with Vee type shoulder straps. They need to come straight back at 0 to 10 degrees down off horizontal with the shoulders. There is nowhere directly behind the drivers side above the extended can seats sturdy enough to put these on huh? I guess my next idea would be to start prodding around where the shoulder strap hooks to the cab now to the left of the driver and right of passenger and see about tying in there, weld a bar acrossed, and do a wrap around setup for the shoulder straps. Anyone seen links to this done in a Dakota?

I guess my recommendation would lie in what you think your odds of a rollover in your vehicle are when youre done building it. And at what speed you think that may happen. The more severe the odds, the more secure I would recommend.
Are you putting in a cage? If you are then you should be able to run a link behind your seats to the sides of the cage that would be secure to mount your straps to. If not you might be able to fab a loop so to speak that goes through your floor and mounts directly to the frame and comes up say halfway behind your seat for the straps. An arch from frame to frame.
